For many, rusty hulks of steel trigger fond memories of a bygone era. For others, they hold the promise of a restored or radically customized automobile just waiting to happen. Roadside Relics 2008 features 12 of the hundreds of abandoned-car images that automotive photographer Will Shiers—author of the 2006 Motorbooks book release Roadside Relics—has amassed over the course of 10 years spent exploring fields, barns, and salvage yards across 49 states. Chevy F, as well as Hudson and Studebaker, are represented, and informative captions provide the histories of the models and details about the locations of the photographs.
