This sequel to Midnight Rider, which Booklist called "a good story for young horse lovers", returns to the small island of Outhorn, where Charlie lives. There are few people on the island, and when Charlie rides out alone on Starbright, the Arabian stallion, she has to stay on the main path or the road. Then, one day, she meets Mona, and Merlin, her stubborn black pony. At last Charlie has a riding companion.
