Yoel Levi"s performances are invariably characterized by clean orchestral textures, sharp rhythms, and a firm sense of ensemble, all of which pay dividends in Brahms. These two delightful works are, for many listeners, even more enjoyable than the symphonies, both showing the composer in his all-too-rare relaxed moods. Levi"s conducting here offers just the right combination of ease and orchestral accuracy, balanced by a constant sense of purposeful forward movement. Great sound too. --David Hurwitz
