The Tao of Christ: a Christian Reading of an Ancient Chinese Text.
Chinese tradition says that the Daodejing (or Tao teh Ching), was written by Laozi (Lao-Tzu in the older renderings), a renowned philosopher who lived in the Hunan province of China between 570 and 490 BC. The title Daodejing might be usefully rendered "The way the universe works," for Laozi taught that people should ignore the pressures of society and, in the modern expression, "go with the flow" by aligning themselves to the underlying pattern of the universe. Indeed this "underlying pattern of the universe" is possibly the best understanding of the word Dao. These pages interpret the Daodejing as a profound Christian philosophy of life which is of the utmost relevance for our own turbulent times.
