Paint & Ink Formulations Database
This updated database comprises the seminal paint & ink formulations compiled by Ernest Flick and published during the last decade. The more than 2500 trade and industrial paint and ink formulations is the first comprehensive database of its kind and will be an invaluable tool for all companies and personnel involved in paint and ink manufacture and use. Each formulation includes the raw materials used and their quantities, key paint or ink properties, film properties, trade names of components, and formula source. In many cases suggested formula modifications are given as well. The database provides the ability to locate and compare formulations by chemical makeup and end uses. The user is able to search on ingredients, solvents, pigments and drying/curing agents. Additional fields showing properties and characteristics of paints and coatings include chemical category, density, viscosity, stormer viscosity, viscosity #2 Zahn, viscosity #4 Ford, solids concentration (vol.%), solids concentration (wt%), PVC, non-volatile (vol.%) non-volatile (wt%), VOC, pigment/binder ratio, and pH. Properties of films include reflectance, gloss 60, sheen 85, knoop hardness, impact resistance direct, impact resistance reverse. Product types for paints and coatings include: caulks, coatings and topcoat, enamels, exterior paints and related products, Gloss Enamels and Paints, interior enamels, interior/exterior enamels, interior/exterior paints, interior paints and related products, lacquers, primers, satin/sheen/eggshell paints and enamels, semi-gloss paints and enamels, primers and primer/sealers, sealants and related compounds, sealers, stains, stipple and texture paints, traffic and airfield paints. Product type for inks include coatings, overprint varnishes, and printing inks.
