During the early years of what would one day become known as The Golden Age of Hollywood, two male couples associated with the motion picture industry would become friends. One couple, refusing to conceal their personal relationship, would lose their positions at one of the most prestigious studios in Hollywood. The other couple would choose to hide their intimate relationship from view, in order to protect their flourishing film careers. Despite their different lifestyles, the two couples, along with several female stars of the time, would form an intimate, small circle of friends, and together they would weather the chaos to come. For during their careers and lifetimes, Old Hollywood would be buffeted by censorship battles, union organizing, federal antitrust laws, un-American activities investigations, and competition from the television industry. But throughout it all, their friendship would endure with the changing times.
