A teenager called Bambi and her single, unstable mother are on the run, fleeing an unknown danger. Bambi learned early on not to ask her mother too many questions. As a result, she can only wonder about what"s pursuing them. Narrating their travels, the teenager describes a nomadic life marked by bland hotel rooms, changing locales, curious strangers, and unanswered questions. Forced to rely on one another, mother and daughter develop an intensely codependent relationship - a "Moon Unit". As they traverse endless miles, the true nature of the danger is gradually revealed by those around them. And Bambi, at last discovers what it is that has sent them traveling around the world on a restless search for safety. The author, Perhan Magden, is an influential Turkish writer whose work has been translated into eighteen languages. "Escape" is her fourth book to be published in English, following the popular novels "Messenger Boy Murders", "2 Girls", and "Ali and Ramazan".
