(manufacturers approx. deflated size) They have been measured this way since the 1950`s as it`s how they come off the production line. The true or inflated diameter of the ball will therefore be somewhat smaller. IE: a 36" beach ball is about 25" tall (true daimeter) a 48" beach ball is about 33" tall (true diameter) and a 72" ball is about 46" tall (true diameter)
