Ocean Malecon Drive forms a new urban category: lineal and coastal, separated by more than 300 kilometres of sea. It is made up of two facades, the Havana Malecon and the Miami Beach Ocean Drive, both urban icons of the city. Each side of the street has its own community who, in spite of inherent difficulties to cross almost 200 miles of liquid asphalt, dream about their neighbors across the way who they are unable to see. The inhabitants of Havana sit along Antonio Maceo Avenue talking of life on the other side, while the Miami community sits on street terraces facing Lumus Park imagining a return visit.
