British policy has been highly successful in recruiting the best overseas postgraduate students. However, major discrepancies remain between stated objectives and practice, between economic benefit and cultural barriers, between what has been successful and what will continue to be so.This study provides an analysis of the growing phenomenon of the mobility of international students and its effect on the policy and practice of a significant host country, Britain.
