All the hymns in "Simplified Arrangements of LDS Hymns" are arranged in the musical keys of C, F and G. In these arrangements, the basic chords are played by the left hand while a single melody line is played by the right hand. A few chords are used from other keys in some of the hymns.The hymns are grouped in four categories: "Hymns of the Restoration of the Gospel," "Hymns of Praise," "Hymns of Prayer," and "Hymns of Sacrament."The Restoration hymns include: "Come, Come Ye Saints," "Come, Listen to a Prophet"s Voice," "Come, Ye Children of the Lord," "High on the Mountain Top," "Israel, Israel God is Calling, "Joseph Smith"s First Prayer," "O Ye Mountains High," "Praise to the Man," "The Spirit of God," "We Thank thee, O God, for a Prophet," "Now Let Us Rejoice," etc.Found in the Hymns of Praise section are: "Glory to God on High," "Hope of Israel," "O My Father," "True to the Faith," "The Lord Is My Light," "Come unto Jesus," "Let Us All Press On," etc.The Hymns of Prayer section includes: "As I Search the Holy Scriptures," "Sweet Is the Work," "I Believe in Christ," "How Gentle God"s Commands," "Secret Prayer," "Sing We Now at Parting," etc.The Sacrament Hymns section includes: "How Great the Wisdom and the Love," "God, Our Father, Hear Us Pray," "Jesus, Once of Humble Birth," "O God, the Eternal Father," "We"ll Sing All Hail to Jesus" Name," etc.There are 41 hymn arrangements contained in the book. It"s a wonderful source for congregations lacking more-accomplished accompanists, and a valuable tool for piano teachers who are instructing beginning/intermediate-level LDS students.
