Blue On Blue [Vinyl]
When Tom Giles got his first 8-bit micro computer he knew immediately that his life would never be the same again. The imperfect charm of the cumbersome bitmap font, the sweet anticipation as the five and a quarter inch floppy whirred and clicked its way through byte after byte. At last, he thought, the future has arrived! Years have now passed and the 8-bit future with it, but not so for Giles. With his digital heritage at the forefront of his mind he has crafted six tracks of shiny electronic funk for his DC Recordings debut. With influences as diverse as dub, p-funk and old fashioned rhythm and blues jostling for a place in the mix, Clause Four"s music has one foot in the world of electronic hip hop (think Dabrye, Timbaland, Modeselektor) and another in some uncharted retro funk future where a cybernetic George Clinton is body popping to a machine-made groove.
