One of Hawaii"s most famous legendary entertainers, Charles K.L. Davis was an extraordinary singer with an operatic voice who mostly performed a classic Hawaiian repertoire. In 1959 Charles won the Metropolitan Opera auditions in New York, becoming the first Hawaiian singer to win the prestigious award. He went on to give a command performance at the White House and toured Russia with the Ed Sullivan show. This classic 1958 audiophile recording features Davis" operatic side, singing romantic arias from classic operas backed by the New York Stadium Symphony Orchestra conducted by Wilfred Pelletier.
