The first release from the new North Carolina-based Celtic trio Cucanandy, He Didn"t Dance is a vibrant blend of tradition-based songs, tunes, and percussive dance rhythms from Ireland, Cape Breton, Brittany, and the American South. Produced by Pete Sutherland, He Didn"t Dance draws largely from Irish tradition, but in often-surprising combinations including foot rhythms and voice woven together on many cuts; the powerful sound of double flutes, in both unison and harmony; and carefully crafted arrangements supporting expressive vocals. The band also brings the journey of Irish and Scottish emigrants, many of whom settled in North Carolina, full-circle by exploring places where southern traditions betray Celtic stylings.
