Ken Light spent four years documenting the U.S./Mexican border and the people who try to cross it. Starting in the rural Mexican villages, he photographs the workers in their homes and with their families. He then follows them to the border, through the perilous crossing, and on to the farms in California"s Fresno and San Joaquin Valleys, the barrios of Los Angeles and in some cases, into the hands of the Border Patrol authorities. Light"s portraits are enhanced by excerpts from nearly fifty interviews with undocumented immigrants conducted by Samuel Orozco. 93 pages; 78 duo-toned b&w plates; 10 x 10 inches.
