The most consistently entertaining element of the computer-animated VeggieTales videos are the wide variety of songs. Picking up where the first volume of VeggieTunes ended, volume 2 gives us the songs from four VeggieTales videos: Rack, Shack & Benny, Dave and the Giant Pickle, Josh and the Big Wall, and Larry-Boy & the Fib from Outer Space. This grand collection (20 selections) shows the breadth of arranger Kurt Heinecke and the show"s creators and songwriters, Phil Vischer and Mike Nawrocki. The wacky segment "Silly Songs with Larry" is amply represented here, including the two funniest: "Love My Lips" and "The Pirates Who Don"t Do Anything." There are lovely ballads ("Think of Me"), Argentinean folk ("Dance of the Cucumber"), and a funk-rock song about Larry-boy. So much fun, you might forget that the Christian-lite series is good for you. The liner notes have all the lyrics, although you may need glasses to read the small print. --Doug Thomas
