Originally hailing from the deep woods of and winding rivers of Northern California Gold Rush town Nevada City, Alela grew up singing songs with her parents (both musicians), and performing in the school choir. After extensive travelling and a wave of significant changes including her parents divorce, Alela decided to return to her hometown and focus firmly on her family, friends and song-writing. Enter her incredibly beautiful and personal debut album "The Pirates Gospel". She recorded the album with her father in his home built studio. Once finished it was originally distributed amongst close friends.
