With "A Tribute To Mario Bauzá", Pedro "Rudy" Calzado took up the heritage of his former band leader and friend. The successor to that album, "La Musica Típica de Cuba", on the other hand, returns to more traditional playing styles. In his latest album Calzado returns to the styles which made him famous in the 1950"s and 60"s. The singer, composer, arranger and percussionist largely recorded his own earlier compositions, re-doing them in a more danceable arrangements and proving that he has complete and expert command of the whole range from montuno, bolero and cha-cha-cha to descarga.
