Saving For A Rainy Day is designed to educate young readers about the importance of saving for the future and not relying on others unless it is necessary. Chompy the chipmunk doesn"t want to "worry about tomorrow," so he spends his time eating the nuts he should have been saving for winter. He grows so fat, he cannot enter "his burrow." He knocks on the door of his friend, Cirrel the squirrel, to ask for food and shelter. Cirrel gives him food and shelter and reminds him that he must save for the winter.
