The book begins with a journal of his eighth trip to Alaska at age 79, riding a 650cc dual sport motorcycle - basically a dirt bike, during which he survived a high-speed collision with a Stone"s sheep on the Alaska Highway. The following year he was struck down by a combination of Lyme disease and ehrlichiosis that attacked his central nervous system and more than doubled the physical maladies and pain with which he was already coping. The book contains journals of several long trips that he took as an octogenarian, exemplifying his strong determination to continue riding for as long as he is able.
