Pre-Christian jewellery, shields and swords were decorated and designed to reveal the wealth and rank of the owner. Celtic Christian art includes illuminated manuscripts, such as the Book of Kells and metalwork such as the Ardagh Chalice. This work is an introduction to Celtic art.
