Naomi Sollenberger and Norma Sayor were both raised and still live on farms in rural Pennsylvania. Norma lives in Williamsburg, and Naomi lives in New Enterprise. Both are graduates of the Ag in the Classroom Program. Naomi currently teaches fifth grade science in the Northern Bedford School District in Bedford County. She did the artwork for this work, having minored in art in college. Norma has taught third grade since 1978 in the Williamsburgh Community School District in Blair County. She wrote the information after both spent many hours on research. From the last eleven years, Norma has be an advisor for an elementary agri-cience club. Naomi and Norma offer this work to help adults and children to better understand Pennsylvania’s number one industry, agriculture. They are happy to share this information, along with their little friend Kernel Penn, who shares something new with the readers on each page of Journey through Pennsylvania with Kernel Penn.
