Multigrade Teaching Programme, Volume One: A Programme of the Commonwealth Secretariat and the Commonwealth of Learning
In many countries there is an inadequate number of teachers for the education system, and as a result there is frequently a very low ratio of teachers to pupils. This situation requires an efficient approach in the use of teachers. Multigrade teaching is one of the approaches which is cost-effective. However, many teachers have not been taught to teach different grades in the same classroom. These materials have been developed to assist teachers to acquire the necessary skills of multigrade teaching. The materials in these three volumes have been developed over the past few years in the Caribbean and African regions by teachers, teacher educators and specialist experts.
