In many countries there is an inadequate number of teachers for the education system, and as a result there is frequently a very low ratio of teachers to pupils. This situation requires an efficient approach in the use of teachers. Multigrade teaching is one of the approaches which is cost-effective. However, many teachers have not been taught to teach different grades in the same classroom. These materials have been developed to assist teachers to acquire the necessary skills of multigrade teaching.
