This three-girl unit was conceived by the Latin Rascals (producers and, later, recording artists in their own right) as a Latina update of the Supremes. The biggest hits on this compilation prove that they are worthy of such great company, though MTV"s resistance to freestyle prevented anyone here from becoming a star on the order of Diana Ross. "Show Me" is their most enduring single--with it"s yearning lyrics and hyper beats, it"s nearly a textbook example of freestyle in its heyday. The Girls break the frenetic mood with a token ballad, a cover of Rose Royce"s "Wishing on a Star." --John Sanchez
