The fruit of extensive research in the historical archives, this work deals with the project to emancipate Madar b5; women, which was undertaken by the civil authorities and missionaries between 1900 and 1960. It deals with women"s living conditions in the pre-colonial society, the methods and means used to bring about change, their impact and their limitations.
