The all-girl dance bands of the swing era often get overlooked by people more focused on the Glenn Millers and Benny Goodmans, but these girl bands were more than just novelty acts. They could swing and play with the best of the guy bands. Several notable acts include Blanche Calloway (Cab"s sister), Lil Armstrong (Louis Armstrong"s one-time wife) and The International Sweethearts of Rhythm who achieved about as much fame as the guy bands of the WWII era...even if they aren"t as well remembered today.
