Breaking Pangaea was born in the greater Philadelphia metro area in the late nineties. The dynamic marriage of BP"s soaring guitars and sweeping vocals is reminiscent of Sunny Day Real Estate, Texas Is The Reason and even a hint of New Found Glory. The band"s powerful live performance is marked by the tremendous amount of energy and emotion pouring from every pore of the trio while onstage. After hundreds of shows, including tours with Coheed & Cambria and Further Seems Forever, and two releases on Florida based Undecided Records, the band crossed paths with Equal Vision Records. Eager to work with each other, the band and EVR formulated a plan to release an EP consisting entirely of rock songs. The EP, entitled Phoenix, was recorded at Big Blue Meenie studios (Thursday, Taking Back Sunday) in New Jersey during November 2002. With plans for non-stop touring in support of the release, including stints with Hey Mercedes and Elliott, the indie-rock world will embrace the band with open arms.
