He had his ups and downs, musically and politically, but Prokofiev made a (mostly) positive mark on the music of the 20th century. This volume from Dover Publications, reprinted from various Soviet publishing houses, offers four of his most popular works: Peter and the Wolf, the Lieutenant Kije Suite (with rarely-if-ever-heard vocal parts), the Classical Symphony, and the cantata Alexander Nevsky. Although the markings and, in Peter, the narration are given in Russian and English, the vocal lines are in Cyrillic only. This is a bargain for students of Prokofiev.
