Zimbabwe: The Beautiful Land
11 years after independence, the situation in Zimbabwe has settled down, the terrorism has largely been solved and the Zimbabwean authorities are eager to attract tourists, with their all-important foreign exchange. There is much of the country that will appeal to the visitor in search of new experiences: the wildlife and gamelodges, the landscapes which range from the Victoria Falls to the lake-studded contours of Nyanga and the mountains of Vumba in the Eastern Highlands as well as the rock formations of the Matapos. The photographs which form the bulk of this book, show the scenic beauty of the various regions of Zimbabwe, focusing particularly on the major tourist areas - Victoria Falls, Hwange National Park and Lake Kariba and the adjacent national parks. The wildlife is also featured. The introductory text will give the reader an insight into the historical perspective and post-independence developments and for the traveller, accommodation and recreational facilities are covered.
