Soma Compilation 2003
Always a symbol of quality dance music, Soma Records closes out 2003 with a CD collection of their hottest artists and tracks of the year. American DJ/producers H-Foundation kick things off right with a smooth, deep mix of "Tonight" from Philly’s King Britt that rocked dancefloors this Summer from Ibiza to Los Angeles and back. Naked Music maestro Miguel Migs adds his trademark Dubpusher treatment to Gene Farris’ sweet "Black Satin" while the white-hot Silicone Soul boys get dark and moody on their mix of the Schatrax classic, "Misspent Years". Hot UK producer/remixers Swag bring their chunky but funky sound on the first single from H-Foundation’s debut, Environments, "New Funk Theory" and the classic filter disco sound of Master H’s "C’est La Vie" brings the French house vibe back full circle for Soma. Soma mainstays Envoy and Funk D’Void show a glimpse of things to come from their forthcoming albums due next year with "Night Moves" and "Emotional Content", a pair of classic sounding deep techno floorfillers. Label flagship artists Slam make an appearance with Vitalic’s underrated remix of "Visions", as tribal tech/house king Tony Thomas delivers one of the highlights from his 21st Century Dub album, "Cannibals". Rounding things out on Soma Compilation 2003 are techno cornerstones Bryan Zentz (making his Soma debut as Faculty X) with "Perils On Second Sight" and a reworking of Percy X’s "On A Day".
