James E. Dittes is Roger J. Squire Professor Emeritus of Pastoral Counseling and Professor Emeritus of Religious Studies and Psychology at Yale Divinity School. His other books include "The Church in the Way", "Minister on the Spot", and "Afflicted with Hope: Manhood as a Spiritual Enterprise".
