Advanced Math Sat Video Course
Price 115.00 - 119.23 USD
The material presented in this course covers the medium-difficult to difficult problems on the math SAT and should therefore prove challenging to even the best math students. By going through the intensive drills in this course, students will not only sharpen their skills in solving difficult math SAT questions but will also develop the confidence needed to tackle similarly difficult problems when they encounter them on the actual test. This video course consists of a 96-minute video tape and a 79-page workbook. The design of the course is based on a thorough analysis of the medium-difficult to difficult problems on numerous math SATs. On the math SAT, problems appear in order of difficulty, with the medium-difficult to difficult problems appearing in the last third of each set of question types -- multiple-choice, quantitative comparisons, and student-produced response questions. An analysis of the medium-difficult questions led to the development of five categories of problems -- shortcuts; tricks, traps, and exceptions; complex problems in algebra and geometry; word problems; and advanced math. These categories are not based simply on areas of mathematics but on similarities of problem-solving skills needed to solve these problems. The workbook serves as the student"s guide to the course. A background information section introduces the student to the course, and then goes on to provide numerous useful tips for taking the SAT, answering the most frequently asked questions about the test. The first section provides the illustrative problems discussed on the videotape and the sample problems to be completed by the student. This section constitutes the core of the course for the student. The second section offers additional problems for the five distinct categories of problem types. These are used to supplement the student"s practice and are especially appropriate as homework exercises. Finally, the third section contains annotated solutions to the problems presented in the second section.
