Clinical Practice Guidelines: Examination and Intervention for Rehabilitation
Evaluation and treatment guidelines are parameters for clinical practi ce. Therapists use guidelines to provide interventions that optimize p atient outcomes. Developed by therapists with clinical experience and an understanding of today"s health care environment, this user-friendl y manual provides a reference to all aspects of patient care, includin g initial evaluation, goal development, treatment, and discharge plann ing. Function and patient responsibility are emphasized. The guideline s are organized by orthopaedic and neurological diagnoses commonly enc ountered in rehabilitation practice. They can be used as a resource in the clinic or to validate treatment to a referral source or third par ty payer. Each guideline concludes with an extensive, up-to-date bibli ography, and each guideline is paired with a one-page quick reference tool that summarizes the guideline. The terminology in the guidelines is designed to coincide with APTA"s Guide to Physical Therapist Practi ce.
