The Digi 001 is an audio I/O (input/output) interface made by Digidesign. The Digi 001 is meant for use with Pro Tools, a digital audio workstation for studio recording. The interface makes it simple for a recording or mixing engineer to work with multiple tracks of audio at one time. Included Software The Digi 001 comes with an software bundle that includes Digidesign"s Pro Tools software for high-quality studio production recording and a wealth of RTAS (Real Time Audio Suite) plugins to go with it. On the installation CD you will find Pro Tools and these plugins, which work together to create a studio-ready environment for recording, mixing and mastering audio. The Hardware Along with the Digi 001 interface itself, the Digi package contains a PCI audio card capable of providing up to eight separate channels of audio at any given time. This allows the user to take eight different sounds from eight different microphones or sources and input them into the software on eight separate tracks for editing. Inputs And Outputs Complimenting the standard eight input and output channels of the Digi 001, the interface provides a headphone output, 16 channels of MIDI input and output and two channels of RCA I/O allowing for a myriad of configurations to complement the setup of any recording studio or workplace. System Compatibility The Digi 001 is designed to work with both the Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows platforms interchangeably. This means that you can use your new Digi 001 hardware (both the interface and the PCI card) on any Macintosh- or Windows-based computer to transfer Pro Tools project files between the two operating systems.
