Psychedeleidoscope
The singer from VERSAILLES Guillaume De La PILIERE plays all the instruments (Bass, keyboards, guitar, drums & sitar) on "Contes Des Sous-Bois". This CD recorded in 1997, seems close to the style of his group"s style. Here, the listener can indeed find those analog keyboards, this thick-sounding Hammond sound and those epic and melodramatic typical songs. The smoky "Psychédéléidoscope" was issued three years later and reminds of the Hindu-inspired experiences of LED ZEPPELIN or John McLAUGHLIN, without forgetting ANGE and Christian DECAMPS... Guillaume De La PILIERE is now back with his third solo album ! This amazing musician may be sounding like a mix of ANGE and YES, but at the same time, performing a very original and personal music. Recorded in the year 2008 on the Musea label, "Requiem Apocalyptique" has been made by the musician himself, including the original artwork (The package is a gothic stained-glass-like digipack), which reminds Gustav KLIMT and the early KING CRIMSON covers. This unique piece of work, clocking at 45 minutes, is a real rock symphony, with vintage and floating keyboards sounds, lyrical or acid guitar soli, theatrical singing, and a mix of classical music and rock inspiration. Besides the aforementioned influences, the listener may also think of GENESIS or PINK FLOYD, or even LED ZEPPELIN in the most aggressive moments. The compostional work succeeds in being timeless, avoiding most of the gimmicks associated with the Seventies. Here"s certainly the best Guillaume De La PILIERE album so far, a real work of art by an original artist !
