Keira was born in small town Connecticut, the youngest of four children to a single mother. Raised primarily by her maternal grandmother while her mother worked, Keira concentrated on music and writing as a way to stand out from her artist siblings. Her grandmother"s death at home in 1989 triggered a life change and a depth of grief that she could only find an outlet for in her writing.In her poetry, begun at age 14, Keira"s struggle with Bi-Polar type 1,suicide, Borderline Personality Disorder as well as her emerging sexuality is clearly outlined and chronicled. Alongside the grief, sorrow and anger that accompanied the loss of her Grandmother is the angst, feelings of hopelessness, and loneliness experienced by many teenagers.
