A product of the world recognized Blue Pottery craft from Jaipur, in Rajasthan, India * Interestingly, this one of a kind art form originated as a result of a Kite flying session, when Sawai Ram Singh II consistently lost a kite battle to two potters, who then told him they had coated their strings with the same blue & green glass that they used for their pots. Sawai Ram Singh II was so impressed, that he invited the brothers to stay in Jaipur and teach this unique form of glazed pottery to Jaipurs craftsmen, whose direct descendants are creating these magnificent products today ! * GI certified (Geographical Indication), since the art requires natural elements available only in Jaipur, such as its unique weather, and the beautiful blue Jaipur sky to give the product its finish * The art uses a mix of powdered stone and glass, borax, gum & water, to produce what is known as Egyptian paste, which is then glazed and low fired which is what gives it its color, and finally decorated with animal, bird and floral motifs
