The colour plates by Kenneth Newman depict each bird in strikingly clear and accurate postures, with additional illustrations showing plumage variations with age and sex where necessary and similar birds grouped together for quick comparison. The author has worked closely with the Bostwana Bird Club in the production of this field guide and their joint experience of the birds of this little-studied region has combined to produce this most authoritative work. The text gives detailed information about the plumage, preferred habitat, characteristic calls and behaviour of each species. The accompanying maps reflecting the known distribution of each species are the most accurate published to date.
