The Gransfors Bruks Axe offers a 4.8 pound (2.2 kg) head with a 4.75 inch (12 cm) face and a 31 inch (80 cm) handle. Designed for the most powerful strokes to fell full-sized trees, this axe is nearly twice as heavy as the Scandinavian Forest Axe. The base of the handle is flared to enable a secure hold without exerting a lot of pressure with the hands. When chopping for an extended time with full, powerful strokes, a wood handle offers much more comfort than steel or fiberglass because of wood"s ability to dampen vibration and insulate from cold.
