First published in 1941, this story is about a motley crowd of battlers travelling the roads, looking for work or avoiding it. Vagabonds, failures and criminals, these are the people refered to as "battlers". Tennant is the author of "Tiburon". "The Battlers" won the S.H. Prior Memorial Prize.
