The Frio is a cold shoe that allows the mounting of any accessory that uses a shoe-mount, onto a light stand, tripod or other mounting system that uses a ¼-20thread.What"s unique about it is the handy locking feature that keeps the mounted accessory, typically a flash, firmly locked in place without the need to tighten down a locking ring or lever. While it is still recommended that the user tighten the flash, it will no longer be an accident waiting to happen should they forget. In addition, the Frio features a slot on the front to hang a remote flash trigger.
