"GCSE French 1 for CCEA" is part of the two-stage course for CCSE GCSE French. It had been approved by the CCEA for use with the CCEA GCSE French specification. It aims to combine a consolidation of the groundwork of the first years of secondary French with a fresh, more adult approach, to provide an increased impetus for the build-up to GCSE and to offer a clear and thorough explanation and practice of the language content and structures required for success in GCSE French. Special features include: a logical, organized approach to the learning of language structures; the use of texts whose content and level should genuinely interest Year 10 students; simple explanations in English, within the units, of key grammatical patterns; information about world-wide French speaking locations; varied listening material of almost all stimulus text; frequent ICT opportunities, use of email contexts and Internet links; and a user-friendly reference section. The "Teacher"s Guide" offers teaching notes with a wealth of integrated ideas for presentation, whole-class work, ICT tasks and differentiation, as well as transcripts and answers.
