Due to the size and construction of hammered dulcimers, Schatten felt that the best balance and accuracy of sound reproduction could only be achieved by using two separate transducer sensing units.As Schatten did with their piano pickup system, they"ve taken their incredibly responsive "dual element system" and applied it to their hammered dulcimer pickup to give you unsurpassed response and faithful, natural sound quality.The HD2 pickup system mounts quickly and easily to the underside of the hammered dulcimer with supplied double sided tape.Dual Element DesignEach transducer unit contains 2 separate piezos working in tandem to enhance sound quality and reduce the possibility of feedback. The units are strongly built and measure approximately 2 3/4" in length, 1 1/2" in width, and 1/2" in thickness.Each transducer is prewired to a 10 foot shielded Mogami cable with a heavy duty 1/4" output plug for stereo configurations. For Mono applications, a 1/4" "Y" adapter is included.Each pickup is hand built and tested in the Schatten workshop to ensure good sound. As well, each pickup is warranted for a period of two years from date of purchase.No Batteries RequiredThis pickup has been designed to operate properly and sound terrific without the use of a preamp when plugged into any "normal" amp (guitar amp, bass amp, etc.).If you require the added ability to be able to plug directly into a P.A. or mixer then you may wish to add one of our Preamp/DI units to your pickup system.
