This anthology of religious poetry spans the period of 1950 to the present and includes much of the best religious poetry written in English during that time, with a few translations from other languages. The poems represent religion in the broad sense as a human striving for the transcendent. As a result they reflect the fullness of human life, the grim side as well as the sublime, the humorous as well as the serious. The poets in this book include Jews, Christians, and others.
