Woodstock"s Braided Nylong Catfish line is really catching on. Woodstock"s Braided Nylon lines are waterproofed, and heat shrunk to reduce stretch. When you are looking for a "softer" braided line, this is your best choice. Nylong Squidding lines were very popular before Mono became the standard. They cast well (Once wet) and are easier on the thumb than when trying to cast with braided dacron. Easily spliced together, many fisherman still like the soft feel & low stretch attributes.
