On the Present Development of Power-Loom Weaving of Silk Fabrics at Lyons. The object of this Brochure is simply to call the attention of British Silk Manufacturers to the gradual but certain replacement, in all but the most elaborate Silk fabrics of the traditional Hand-Ioom Weaving for which Lyons for centuries has been so famous, by that of the Power-loom in which so many gradual improvements on the Continent in recent pears have been made. Originally published in 1893. Many of the earliest books on weaving, textiles and needlework, particularly those dating back to the 1900s and before, are now extremely scarce and increasingly expensive.
