With the INSTEON Hub, it"s easy to schedule your porch light to turn on at sunset and off at sunrise. And because the Hub keeps an eye on any INSTEON sensors installed throughout your home, you"ll receive an instant text message or email alert if ever a door or window is opened, motion detected or worse, a water leak or smoke is found. Because the INSTEON Hub knows about your INSTEON WiFi Cameras, you can control and manage them all from the same app — no need to use two apps to control your home. To make sure your home is always connected, the INSTEON Hub talks with the INSTEON Connect cloud-based home management service. Your devices, scenes, settings, schedules, and more are stored for you, making it easy to access your home from multiple locations or even multiple devices. But best of all, these features don"t come with a nagging monthly fee. Unlike other systems on the market that charge hundreds of dollars a year for similar services, the INSTEON Hub has no monthly fees. At-a-Glance Features Control your entire INSTEON home from your smartphone or tabletReceive cloud-based email and text message alertsQuickly set up and configure scenes including On Level and Ramp RateSchedule lights and devices to turn on and off using any time or sunrise and sunsetPowerful, free mobile app for iOS and AndroidNo monthly feesFeatures dual-band INSTEON technology for the best home control reliability The Hub supports two protocols: INSTEON and X10. INSTEON transmits both over radio and powerline. X10 transmits solely on powerline and therefore inherently less reliable. The Hub supports X10 as a way to help existing X10 users in migrating to a better technology (INSTEON). X10 signaling is highly dependent upon the “cleanliness” of the individuals electrical environment. X10 is susceptible to power line noise (other electronics pushing noise interference onto the house power). It is also susceptible to attenuation (signal sucking). The user must perform some basic troubleshooting to determine what electronic devices could be causing interference (usually this is a sequence of unplugging appliances one at a time while sending test signals after each removal). We offer noise filters to reduce the impact of electronics on the power line.
