2010 debut album from the British Electronic Pop trio. Fronted by female vocalist Tigs, the band set out to create "music that sounds so dated it doesn"t date" and have succeeded in spades. Mixing a cool modern Electro approach with more than just a hint of "80s Pop, Chew Lips create music that is inviting yet distant. Unicorn is a Pop album, no doubt about it, but not Pop as you know it. There are far too many quirks here, too many human idiosyncrasies, too many rough edges, to fit neat neatly into any preconceived box. The trio add other instruments, such as guitar, into the mix, but they joyfully remain an Electronic band through and through. Family.
