Trinidad: 4 (Caribbean Social Studies)
This six-level course was developed with contributions from primary school teachers and education officers in ten Caribbean countries. The outline for the course was designed by selecting topics and themes common to all the syllabuses in the region, including the Primary Education Project material. This book looks in depth at Trinidad and Tobago: its landscape, its people and their history, the way they are governed, how they earn a living and their life as an independent nation. Modern developments in the islands are highlighted, such as the oil industry and the rise of housing estates, and special attention is paid to tourism. To ensure in-depth coverage for Year 4 there are separate books on the individual countries. A teacher"s guide accompanies levels 1-3 and another covers levels 4-6.
