The Fate of the Unborn Child

I am truly one of the lucky ones because I am able to write about this historical event. I have tried to portray a real-life description about the men and women who fought, laughed, and cried together as a united sword and the shield for this country. Everyone who is now privileged to live their lives in freedom today owe a great debt of gratitude to the young people who fought and died for the right to be free" Based on a true story, The Fate of the Unborn Child is told from the perspective of Genet, a young girl who leaves her home with her friend Yodit to fight for independence from Ethiopia, which illegally annexed Eritrea into its territory. Taking place during the resulting thirty-year way, the book places an emphasis on the incredible feats of women who fought alongside men during the way, which includes being on the front lines while heavily pregnant. Even after the battle for independence is over, the women fighters face another struggle--women"s rights and gender equality.
